What is Myofascial Release (MFR)?

MFR stands for Myofascial Release. The specific technique I practice is known as John Barnes Myofascial Release, a method I have extensively studied with over 500 hours of hands-on training. To ensure my skills remain current and in line with the latest research and advancements, I regularly attend seminars. This ongoing education complements my training as a licensed Massage Therapist.

MFR is both gentle and profound in its approach. A unique aspect of this technique is that it never forces through your body’s natural barriers. Because of this, MFR will not cause harm or exacerbate existing conditions, making it a safe and gentle option for anyone, regardless of their health status.

It is important to understand that healing is not a straightforward process. While the goal is to alleviate pain and restore an active lifestyle as quickly as possible, the healing journey varies for each individual. I am here to support you throughout this journey and believe in your ability to overcome pain and regain your vitality.

What to Expect in Your Session

Each session is tailored specifically for you. Typically, sessions begin with an assessment of your body's alignment while you stand in a natural, upright position. This is followed by an evaluation of your body while you lie on the treatment table, outside of the influence of gravity.

These assessments, combined with your feedback, help me determine the best starting point for your treatment.

It's essential that you communicate openly with me and allow yourself to deeply connect with your body during the treatment. This will help you recognize any sensations or connections that might feel unusual or unexpected.

Unlike a massage, Myofascial Release (MFR) is performed without the use of oil or lotion on your skin. Please ensure your skin is clean and free of any oils or lotions prior to your session.

For the best results, please wear shorts and a loose-fitting top or sports bra. You will not be covered with sheets like in traditional body treatments, as I need to access as much skin as possible. If you feel cold, we provide sheets or blankets to ensure your comfort throughout the session.
